Housing forecast sparks 50 year loan talk in Ohio

A Lorain County Home Builders Association event featured Robert Klein of Robert Mortgage Corp outlining a 50 50 financing scenario. He predicted mortgages could extend to 50 years with 50 percent of the sale price provided by lenders and potential need for second or third liens. He cited FHA and VA rate movements and warned of liquidity constraints as consumers enter a housing surge. The study cited by the National Association of Home Builders showed mortgage debt distribution among S&Ls banks and savings institutions.

Doubled quadrupled city sewer rates loom

Elyrians likely face more than doubling in sewer charges by July 1 1980 and up to quadrupling by Jan 1 1982 to fund a $20 million plus EPA mandated waste water plant and interceptor sewer project. Utilities officials say most homes use under 900 cubic feet monthly. fixed income residents under 300 receive the minimum rise.

Keys warns Elyria of 50 to 100 layoffs by year end

Elyria Mayor Michael B Keys warned 50 senior citizens that the city could lay off 50 to 100 workers by year end due to a money shortage. He said the city cannot fund raises or a major new service like subsidized transportation. He also noted April tax revenues were lower than last year and the 0.5 percent income tax expires in June. The council approved funds for street repair and other projects, and adjusted the income tax distribution.

Hilltop House to reopen with dinner theater plans

Hilltop House at 338 Bridge St will reopen June 9 housing the Party Company dinner theater. Owner Dr John Bartone and manager Tom Zaffer will run the now mixed use including new menus and on site baking. Projections call for the first Party Company show on Oct 2 with $5.70 show tickets and buffet or menu dinners.

Chief criticizes call for prober

Prout Chevrolet Co. owner-operator Huston Biff Prout sells the dealership to Ronald H. Miller and Norman Ford after 11 weeks of talks. Miller becomes dealer-operator, Ford co-owner and GM. Prout retires after 35 years, will consult, Cedar Point area plans. The firm keeps the Prout Chevrolet name and about 60 employees remain.

Mrs Lillian Carter Advises Kennedy In Cleveland Stop
