Avon Lake Uses Most 1972 Revenue Sharing Funds
Avon Lake City Council appropriated nearly all of the $174,000 it has received in federal revenue sharing funds for 1972. Major allocations include $40,000 for a ditch cleaning project and $40,000 for reaf pick-up equipment, plus funds to recreation, police, and fire departments. The plan requires a summer crew for ditch work and a later expenditure review, with council intent to participate in a Lorain County radio system and a required plan for further funds.

Amherst Mayor threatens court action to end sewer tap-in freeze
Amherst Mayor Anthony DePaola says he may pursue court action to force the state to lift the sewer tap-in freeze. He sent a request to the Ohio Environmental Board of Review and outlined progress toward federal funding for a $2 million treatment plant, including contacting Rep. Charles Mo her and EPA officials. Lorain’s stance complicates efforts, but Amherst expects a favorable outcome as new federal rules could delay construction by 18 months if funding is not secured by July.
