Solar-powered plane lands in Brussels after 13-hour first international flight
The Solar Impulse, built by ETH Lausanne, completed a 13-hour maiden international voyage from Switzerland to Belgium, flying over France and Luxembourg after departing Payerne. Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg led the mission with a wingspan comparable to a Boeing 777 and 12 000 solar cells. The craft, weighing about 1.7 tons, will proceed to Paris Le Bourget for the Paris Air Show.
