Dore's Fire Department Row Reaches Courts and Council

Provenza rejected the idea and Mayor Foltin demanded Dore’s removal. Dore appealed, the commission sided with Foltin, but a Common Pleas Court judge allowed Dore to stay on until appeals finish. Dore argues midterm negotiations need no council action if no extra funds are required. Local plan pays pensions and salaries concurrently, unlike the state plan. Tom Brown of Local 267 notes others on the state plan may lose local benefits. Firefighters oppose Dore’s actions citing stalled promotions. Foltin says to let the process run its course.
