Rev. Gerald Robinson was found guilty of choking and stabbing Sister Margaret Ann Pahl in a hospital chapel on the eve of Easter 1980. Prosecutors said he became the prime suspect two decades later and he received a 15 years to life sentence after jurors, some avoiding his clerical collar, delivered the verdict.
Larry Wade, 46, pled guilty in Cuyahoga County to aggravated murder for the 1996 missing person Stacey Balas. He admitted strangling her and dumping the body in a trash bin after she rejected him. Balas family says justice arrived but body remains unfound.
Major League Baseball allows players to use baby pink Louisville Slugger bats for Mother's Day as part of a weeklong Susan G. Komen fundraiser. Players including Derek Jeter, David Eckstein, Marcus Giles and Kevin Mench plan to swing them, with about 400 bats made for 50 plus participants.
Cleveland players Grady Sizemore Eduardo Perez and Aaron Boone will use pink bats at the plate on Mother's Day to support the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Bats will be sold after the game with proceeds benefiting Indians charities. Team spokesman Curtis Danburg said players chose to participate under MLB directive.
Lawmakers pressed the Bush administration after USA Today reported the NSA secretly compiled records of millions of domestic phone calls to build a nationwide database. President Bush said the government does not listen to domestic calls without court approval as Hayden defends NSA activities.
Elyria a new ownership group from Australia plans redevelopment and leasing improvements at Westfield Midway Mall. Mitchell Brown says seven malls in the group will use expertise to boost sales and attract tenants. Local merchants will meet in coming months to outline plans for the center.
