Infant dies after long liver transplant wait

A 9 month old boy, Alex Kevin Girard, died during liver transplant surgery at Children's Hospital Boston. Despite finding a donor liver after a nationwide search, severe organ deterioration led to cardiac arrest an hour after the operation. Nancy Reagan had offered support as the family pursued the transplant.
