Buffalo stampede near Willard ends with fatal shot
The Huron County Sheriff Tom Dunlap and deputy Ronald Chase, with two riders, rounded up 21 of 27 buffalo on a Havana farm. Five remained at large north of Willard and considered dangerous. The 27th animal was shot to calm the herd but the effort failed. The buffalo owned by Kim and Fred Sharp escaped through a fence breach on its 100 acre pasture. The herd was seen on Townline Road 26 north of Route 162 as owners sought help to reclaim them.

Berea Girl Severely Injured Jumping Onto Train
A 15 year old Berea girl had her right foot crushed by a Conrail freight train while attempting to board near the Barrett Road overpass. Tracy Boone 15 is in stable condition after part of her right leg was amputated below the knee at Southwest General Hospital. Her 15 year old companion was unharmed.
