Bennett ousted by Utah conservatives at GOP convention
Utah delegates toppled three term Senator Bob Bennett, sending him home after a second round where Tim Bridgewater led with 37 percent and Mike Lee 36 percent. Lee and Bridgewater proceed to a June 22 primary to face off for the Senate seat. Bennett cited a toxic political climate and signaled possible write in plans though state law bars an independent run.
