Record flock of whooping cranes heads north along Texas coast
Wildlife biologist Tom Stehn documents a record 217 wild whooping cranes along a 35 mile Texas coast near Corpus Christi from a Cessna. The Aransas Refuge crane coordinator notes the birds migrate 2500 miles to Wood Buffalo National Park in Canada, with numbers rising since near extinction in 1941.
