Carter seeks limited tax funds to rescue Social Security

President Carter urged Congress to provide carefully limited income tax funds to shore up Social Security after a White House forecast that reserves could deplete in the early 1980s. A separate computer error reportedly redirected checks to wrong addresses, affecting about 150,000 elderly disabled recipients, with officials urging affected individuals to notify Social Security.
