Life at 40 a risk for Ohio chemical workers

Longtime PCB plant workers cling to home in face of illness

In northeastern Ohio, Manley and Dayton, both 38, stay put with families while 80 Robintech, Inc workers endure decades of vinyl chloride exposure. The dangerous work, limited regulation, and the death of Chuck Arthur at 47 spotlight a broader industry risk with 7,000 PVC workers and up to two million dependent fabricators. Mr Drenkin in Alabama Estate Ties to Eddie Goodwin Case

The Chronicle-Telegram reports a real life counterpart to the fictitious attorney Mr John W Drinkard of Linden Alabama, involved in discussions with Eddie Goodwin and family over Rufus Goodwin’s estate in late 1960 or early 1961. The Drinkard name, often mispronounced as Drenkin or Drinker, points to Alfred John W Drinkard who died in 1971 at 66. His son Wade confirms the firm Drinkard and Drinkard in Linden has long operated, with Hermione Vick recalling Eddie Goodwin’s visit to discuss the Goodwin estate. The piece notes no court estate records were found and notes the common spelling confusion in Alabama.
