New trial sought in death suit over woman's 1972 death

Edward P. Cihla, executor of Louise Cihla’s estate, seeks a new trial against Dr. Thomas E. Williams and Dr. Roy E. Hayes alleging the verdict was influenced by passion and prejudice. The Lorain County Common Pleas jury had awarded Williams $5,000 and Hayes nothing after finding negligence not proven. The motion notes damages and funeral costs totaling $5,567.77 and disputes the jury’s valuation of a 38 year old housewife at $492,060. A prior verdict began with zero damages against Williams before the final $5,000 award was set. A court hearing date will be set soon.
