When Is A Farm Laborer Not A Farm Laborer
In Columbus Ohio May 8 H C Atkinson administrator of the Bureau of unemployment compensation explains when farm labor is or is not covered employment. He says owning or leasing farms and hauling produce to storage is farm labor and not covered. But buying produce in the ground and hiring men to dig and haul for storage for shipment is not farm labor and the worker may be eligible for benefits unless performed by the owner or tenant. Time must be segregated if a worker does both farm and other tasks. if not separable, all counts as employment with required contributions.
