Lorain to issue utility credit over April collection strike
Lorain homeowners will receive a 3.50 credit on next bills after April trash disruptions caused by Republic workers sympathy strike supporting Carbon Limestone Landfill employees. Mayor Ritenauer pushed for more but settled on the credit as crews borrowed Elyria trucks to clear over 100 tons of waste.

Police probe after Saturday shooting near Elyria bank
Elyria police are investigating a Saturday gunfire incident that left Jeris Geiger 20 of Oberlin with a finger wound. The shooting may be linked to rounds fired near First Merit Bank at 538 Broad Street at 2:22 a.m. A gray four door car fired at Geiger as he reached an apartment complex on Middle Avenue. No arrest yet.
