Grass And Brush Fires Extinguished By Local Firemen
Elyria firemen battled two grass and brush fires covering 75 acres on Samuel Street and 25 acres north of Belmont Street west of Furnace Street. Fire crews from Engine Company No. 3 fought each blaze for about an hour and a half with assistance from the service truck. Children with matches were blamed for the incidents.

A 64 year old chiropodist and her daughter were arrested in Illinois charged with running a baby farm selling infants of unwed mothers on an installment plan. Police seized them in a Waukegan camp trailer with two others and a 14 month old child. The group included Mrs Hezel Rockwell and Charles Schillinger. A Stockholm telephoned eye witness report from Roeros Norway describes German troops recapturing the town at about 1 p m with Norwegians having evacuated. Seven bombs exploded center town as civilians fled toward the hills leaving 2 000 residents in panic and damage to wooden houses and lines. The correspondent Fran cis McEachen reported shells and debris in his hotel and injuries to bystanders with no soldiers present. The piece notes he planned to escape toward the frontier and had not been heard from since.

Two Injured In Traffic Accidents
Two accidents occurred near Elyria over the weekend as drivers attempted to pass. Mrs. Litta Jeffery sustained a severe ear laceration when her vehicle collided with Oral J. White's car on Route 20 east of Route 385 at 8 35 p.m. She was taken to Oberlin hospital. Margaret Mordiesteller, 32, injured her right arm on Route 133 near the railroad bridge while Foster Box's car hit a Spang Bakery Truck driven by John Armstrong. Box was passing the truck at the time. A collision on Washington avenue left Mrs. W. S. MacCollum's car damaged after Max Goldstein drove away from the curb.
