Berea levy fails sparks deep cuts at district
Berea voters rejected a 5.9 mill operating levy 7 319 to 7 647 ending the hopes for expanded programs and staff. The district plans 62 layoffs including 51 teachers, eliminates 44 high school and junior high classes, halts high school bus service and reduces extracurricular funding by half. Superintendent Robert Stabile said cuts save over 1 million and leave a 750 thousand dollar deficit.
