Convict Ship Ends Lorain Visit To Cleveland Bound
The aging British convict ship, the oldest vessel afloat, is closing its Lorain stop tonight at eleven and will head to Cleveland tomorrow morning. The ship’s stay has drawn large crowds with about 4,000 aboard on Saturday and daily attendance near 1,000. Captain Smith praised the welcome from Mayor Standen and local officials, noting the journey may end the Lakes for the ship, but crew members hope for post visit visits to Lorain and nearby towns.

Bishop McConnell Likely Safe From Trial At Conference
Kansas City, May 6. Methodist Episcopal leaders at the general conference favored deferring any trial of Bishop Francis J. McConnell of Pittsburgh on charges of maladministration and immorality. The charges, filed by Rev. George A. Cooke of Wilmington, were deemed unlikely to result in court action, as Cooke lacks conference status. The immorality allegation centers on alleged remarks about evolution. A new burglar alarm, suitcase sized, features a small cannon noise, smoke, gong, and room illumination.
