Prince Charles abandons Australian governor general bid
The Times reports Charles gave up plans to become governor general of Australia after widespread opposition seen during a recent visit. In the United States he proved popular, mingling easily with well wishers and joking with Virginia officials in Williamsburg. The trip included Australia, New Zealand, Venezuela and America. Charles also received honorary fellowship from William and Mary College.
