Pollution linked chlorinated water to higher Ohio cancer rates

A study led by Dr. Reiches at Ohio State University’s Comprehensive Cancer Center found higher cancer mortality in 200 counties including Cuyahoga where water treatment plants on Lake Erie and the Ohio River chlorinate water. Urban areas showed about eight percent higher cancer rates than rural, with bladder and large intestine cancers noted in older residents.

U S Drops Opposition to Vietnam Admissions to UN

In Paris, the United States and Vietnam issued a joint communique saying Washington will not block Vietnam's entry to the United Nations. Rams draft picks set in latest NFL rounds

In Round today the Los Angeles Rams selected Art Best from Kansas State as the draft resumed. Chicago Bears nabbed quarterback Vance Evans from Southern California, aided by a trade for Mike Phipps from Cleveland. Kansas City took Andrew Hierrets from Southern Minnesota, while Cleveland had no sixth round pick. Buffalo acquired Ron Provtt from Nebraska as part of the Browns’ allotment.

Nixon to speak on Watergate in Frost interview tonight

Linz named Fisher Body Elyria plant manager in place of Heysel

Linz, 33, will lead the Elyria Fisher Body plant as its new manager succeeding Robert Heysel who retired after 33 years. He had been production manager at Columbus since 1974, while Heysel led Elyria since 1970. The Elyria plant employs over 2300, supplying GM auto parts. Rhodes area pitch stresses jobs and better industry climate

Governor Rhodes toured Lorain County meeting area business and industry leaders to push tax incentives and Ohio resource development. He vowed state support for Lorain harbor expansion with US Steel and sought funds to repair bridges and safeguard the Erie Canal corridor. He criticized Carter energy policy and urged drilling of thousands of natural gas wells to spur growth and job creation.
