War memories revived at Elyria Legion home campaign
War time memories were revived Friday as 360 campaign workers opened a $40,000 drive for the Elyria American Legion Memorial Home at the First Congregational church. Flags from seventeen allied nations hung in the dining room, with posters from 1917 1918 and patriotic appeals by Harold Burton of Cleveland. Burton praised soldiers who died in the war and urged continued patriotism through the Legion, noting the Elyria post is among the best with a renowned Drum and Bugle Corps. He stressed the Legion’s role in welfare for members and community children and urged strong support for the fundraising campaign.
