God pronouns debate prompts liturgy rethink
The theologian Dr. Leonard Swidler of Temple University argues that masculine pronouns for God distort theology and gender equality. He proposes using both he and she or a new term, noting biblical precedents and feminine imagery in scriptures and Hebrew terms. Other items report church roles, a Protestant Catholic liaison, a DNC chair joining a seminary board, and a Seventh Day Adventist building dedication in Takoma Park.

Divinity students sample life by sharing inpoverty exercise
Seminary students at a divinity school take part in a firsthand poverty exercise. A grocery checkout scenario shows a man short of funds handing items to his son, a stranger offers to pay, illustrating the experience of need and charity. The program aims to deepen empathy for the poor.
Bible Faith and Hunger Exercise Highlights Parish Aid
The Rev Dr Richard A Hoehn of Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University describes a hunger exercise for church groups. Participants live two weeks on a weekly budget of eight dollars for a single person, ten for a couple, and twelve fifty for a family of three, plus two fifty per extra member. The aim is to foster empathy for the underfed by experiencing restricted food choices and tensions that arise from scarcity. He notes some participants steal small items but later repay them, and says the exercise reveals broader poverty issues beyond food. The method, outlined in the Christian Century, can be used in local parishes to build awareness of housing, transportation, clothing, and medical care in poverty.

Stripper Performs Art Form For Unitarian Church
In Richardson Texas UPI reports Unitarian minister Bill Nichols hosted stripper Diana King for a church event. King wore a G string and performed with a purple veil while 100 attendees watched, applauded, and debated whether the act was erotic or artistic. Nichols compared the dance to Michelangelo’s David and stressed the piece was not meant erotically. King, a Dallas nightclub performer, described her work as an art form and a third generation Unitarian.
