Consumer spending rises 0.4 percent on stimulus hopes
The Commerce Department reports March consumer spending up 0.4 percent, double forecast, while incomes rise 0.3 percent and after inflation incomes are flat. Analysts warn the boost from the $168 billion stimulus may be short-lived and growth could slip negative later this year. The Dow closes above 13,000 for first time since January.

Airlines slow down to save on fuel
Airlines cut fuel costs by flying slower and adding minutes to flights. Southwest aims to save 42 million this year with one to three extra minutes per flight, while Northwest JetBlue United and others report multi million gains from reduced speeds and fuel planning software. The practice raises concern among travelers already facing higher fares delays and security lines.
