Rescued Iraqi war dog finds new life in Illinois
Bashar the Iraq war mascot, a stray dog befriended by Maj. Mike Fenzel and his unit, makes the journey from Kirkuk to a suburban home in Illinois. After surviving dangers on deployment, Bashar travels 600 miles via Humvee to the International Veterinary Hospital and then to O’Hare for adoption, where she now enjoys a sheltered life with Fenzel’s family and daily visits to the sales office.
