Buses diverted as illness hits school's outing
A group of 109 Port Clinton junior high eighth graders on a Washington DC trip fell ill on the way home after landing at Cleveland Hopkins. 40 were rushed to Lorain Community Hospital, one student Laura Hermes hospitalized then expected to be released. Doctors diagnosed flu-like illness with a hysteria factor. 25 more staff were called in. Troopers escorted buses to hospitals. some students remaining on buses were later sent to St Joseph's.
