UN, Communist negotiators reject overall Korean truce plan
In Panmunjom Korea, Communist negotiators rejected the UN over all peace plan but submitted a counter proposal. Gen Nam II led talks with mutual secrecy rules. The UN stated no full agreement was reached, with a next meeting set for 11 a.m. tomorrow. Meanwhile Air Forces launched 1,283 sorties against North Korea, the largest since late April 1951.

Food standards raised for children in relief programs
In Columbus the State Welfare Department raised food standards by about 10 percent. Welfare Director John H. Lamneck said the increase yields roughly 50 more per month for food under Aid to Dependent Children and General Relief programs.

Child Narrowly Escapes Serious Injury in Amherst
Three year old Wilna Mae Dalton of RD 1 Amherst narrowly escaped serious injury when she ran in front of a car driven by Alfred Lewis 18 of Ripton traveling north on Quarry Road just north of South Amherst center. The State Highway Patrol said the child suffered contusions and abrasions and was taken to Amherst Hospital. The driver was not held.

Driver Survives After Car Capsizes Into Bank
Ravy Bonow of Berlin Heights escaped serious injury when his 1941 car plunged into a bank on the east approach to Birmingham around 4 a.m. He was returning from work in Elyria and reportedly fell asleep not making the curve.
