Avon Senior Center at 36786 Detroit Road offers programs for adults 55 and over including seminars health screenings trips and social events serving about 5000 seniors in Avon. Transportation program curb to curb operates 9 am to 3 pm Monday through Friday with weather restrictions and a contact number 440 934 RIDE for information.
Weekly activities include Pinochle Mondays at 1 PM, Paint Wednesdays at 10 AM, Mahjong Wednesdays at 12 30 PM, Silver Sneakers 10 AM on Mon Wed Fri, Coffee and Donuts on the 1st and 3rd Thursday at 10 AM, Book Club 2nd Thursday 10 AM, Movie Day 1st and 3rd Friday 1 PM, and ongoing Jigsaw Puzzles. The city offers Monday and Wednesday sessions at South Recreation Center 101 South Park Dr Elyria with chair exercise 9:30 to 10:30, chair yoga 10:30 to 11:30, Tai Chi 10 to 11, and walking 9 to noon. Tuesdays and Thursdays feature East Recreation Center 1101 Prospect St Elyria with line dancing 9:30 to 10:30, pickleball 10:30 to noon, and Thursday Tai Chi 10 to 11. Friday activities are listed at West Recreation Center 1200 Foster Ave Elyria.
