Navy chief recalls Korea war as unusually unique and flexible
In Tokyo Vice Admiral Robert P Briscoe notes Korea's war defied conventional planning. He cites no enemy navy, heavy bombing with fewer ships, and static trench fighting. He highlights amphibious Inchon, sea evacuations from Hungnam, and the long siege of Wonsan, plus distant bases like Yongdo and Yodo as defining features.
