Cooper and Church Seek Irrevocable Indochina Withdrawal Plan

Tate LaBianca trial jurors weigh life or death

A seven man five woman jury in the Tate LaBianca murder case must choose between life imprisonment or the gas chamber for Charles Manson and three female codefendants. Jurors must be unanimous. if no verdict on punishment is reached, Judge Charles H Older will declare life terms and the prosecutor may request a new penalty retrial. Deliberations began Saturday in sports attire with observers noting the pace, and jurors were sequestered at the Alexandria Hotel for the weekend before resuming.

Air tests raise hope for two trapped miners in Pa mine

Two miners Richard Randolph age 62 and Charles Gibson Sr age 64 are trapped 300 feet underground at Buckeye Coal Co mine in Nemacolin Pa. Rescuers report air samples and temperature readings analyzed at a Pittsburgh lab and progress continues with drills and sealing attempts as officials say the men may have found shelter and could survive if barricaded.
