Ter ry Flood, 13, disappeared after his rowboat capsized near Trailer 42 on the Black River late last night. His companion Peter Nicollett reached shore, telling firefighters he heard Terry call to hang on. Divers began searching as flood conditions and rising waters hampered efforts. The Lorain Coast Guard joined as a scuba team prepared to search from the banks with flood lamps.

Lorain city councilman Alex Olejko says council support exists to consider withdrawing Lorain’s 1900 commitment to the Lorain County Airport Authority and place it in a bank until Elyria funds arrive. Sheffield Lake city council refused to accept a petition for annexation to Lorain. The action may prompt a mandamus filing in Lorain County Common Pleas Court to force the issue. The annexation committee plans to meet next week to decide next steps.

John R. Donaldson faces foreclosure of his 38 acre Fitchville River farm by U S district court Toledo to collect a 322 penalty for overplanting his 1957 wheat allotment. He claimed 14 acres planted while ASC said 23, resisted agricultural inspectors, appeals failed, and he later chose to stay on farm amid shifting quotas.
In a first national action in AFTRA history, actors picketed CBS NBC and ABC. Supervisors manned news broadcasts in New York Chicago and Los Angeles while negotiations continue for higher salaries and shared ad revenue. NBC Today and CBS morning news were among first affected with reruns used for filmed portions.
The Ohio House approved an emergency pay raise bill described as the best in state history. It would raise pay for about 45,000 state workers including Highway Patrol members, nurses, and teachers in state institutions. Senate hearings will begin next week with top priority pledged by leaders.
The Izaak Bowmen of Lorain County sponsor a Sunday archery shoot as a benefit for Chippewa Indians in Minnesota. Proceeds will buy bows and arrows for Indians who mostly have never shot a bow, aiding missionary efforts to provide recreation and occupy idle time.
