Court Rules On Pay Increases For State Employees

The Ohio Supreme Court ruled that state department heads cannot withhold the temporary 10 percent salary increases authorized by the 9th general assembly from some employees while granting them to others. The decision came in granting a writ to Edward J. Francis, a grade one rodman with Lorain county, to compel the state highway director Hal G. Souisa to grant the increase, as Francis claimed he was the only employee in his division denied the raise, which could bring him up to a $15 monthly maximum.
