Health Board debates meat inspection and school diphtheria test
The Elyria Board of Health urged the city to require slaughterhouse meat inspections before sale after reports of unsold Cleveland meat entering local markets. The officer noted 19 cases of scarlet fever 24 of whooping cough 2 measles 5 chicken pox and 1 diphtheria. George Savage condemned 15 lb fish 25 lb sweet potatoes 12 lb poultry and 40 lb beef. Dr. E French said state officials would test schoolchildren for diphtheria on April 15 with many parents consenting and tests to be held at school buildings on the Sth.
