California trims zero-emission car targets for 2014
California air regulators cut the required number of battery powered and hydrogen fuel cell vehicles for major automakers in 2014 and instead push hybrids. The six largest automakers must sell nearly 60 000 hybrids while they develop new zero emission designs. The board lowered the zero-emission target and offered hybrids as an alternative to stricter emissions goals.
