Wright shines as Indians top Marlins in spring win
Jaret Wright delivered a solid spring outing to ease recent worries, earning an 8-2 victory for Cleveland over the Florida Marlins at Space Coast Stadium. Wright struck out two, walked three, and emphasized locating pitches while Erik Alomar and Travis Fryman homered in a five-run third inning. Robby Alomar added two hits as Cleveland out-hit Miami 15-9, with closer plans unsettled between Paul Shuey and Steve Karsay despite Karsay’s strong spring form. The Tribe, featuring Bartolo Colon making a next start against Atlanta, heads to Chain of Lakes Park for a 1:05 contest.

Giles Hopes Five-Position Flexibility Powers Pirates
BRADENTON, FLA Pirates ask Brian Giles to switch positions to let rookie Chad Hermansen play center field. Giles resists, noting his fatigue from last year’s outfield rotation yet supports developing Hermansen as the team moves toward a winning season and new stadium. Giles aimed to play daily after a breakthrough 40 homer pace and a finger injury shortened last season.
