Pennsylvania teachers resist school district bonus plan
In Harrisburg an eighth grade English teacher balks at a $2500 merit bonus tied to test scores. Colonial School District faces strong opposition as nearly all of its 250 teachers sign a petition to donate bonus funds to charity. NEA and AFT voices caution merit pay, citing rivalries and outside factors affecting scores. Denver pilots a different model with district wide or classroom based rewards.
