Roosevelt cools on Hull candidacy amid party hurdles

The article recalls President Roosevelt's Christmas discussions about Cordell Hull as a Democratic nominee, notes his wavering enthusiasm by March, and highlights Hulls age of 69, race and farm-voter challenges, trade-treaty issues, and Republican sympathy that could affect electability in a tight race. It also mentions advisers questioning Hulls electability versus nomination and ends with TVA commissioner Jim Pope.

Funds Raised for County Boys Camp at Camp Isssee Kes

Juvenile Officer Carl Curtis reports 128 dollars raised toward a second annual camp sponsored by the county juvenile department at Camp Isssee Kes on the Vermilion River for delinquent boys. Last year 39 boys attended a 10 day youth vacation run by Elyria Y.M.C.A. at a cost of one dollar per day per boy. Curtis aims to reward good behavior with a real vacation rather than punishment, noting high success with only two of the 39 not qualifying for a return. He plans to take 0 to 75 boys this year, age up to 18, provided behavior remains up to standard.
