The barn on the Oscar Stetter farm southeast of Columbia Station burned early this morning. Thirteen horses in the basement perished and a large truck was destroyed. The blaze was spotted at 3:15 after a dance ended at midnight. Damage estimates were not available.
George Sherwood, 39, of Telegraph Road, was found along the roadside near his home at 11:39 p.m. Saturday in serious condition with $43 missing. Investigators believe a robbery or assault occurred after his clothing showed unusual wear. He was taken to the hospital with multiple injuries but is reported in favorable condition.
Milan Radosevick, 18 months, son of Mr and Mrs Eli Radosevick, was fatally struck by a Big Four passenger train at Barker street crossing in Wellington. Engineer Arthur Lynch reported the child lay between the rails and was seen to lift its head before the train could stop. Coroner Thomas Peebles ruled accidental death.
The Ohio state tax commission may grant a thirty day extension for filing tax returns under the new intangible tax law. Governor White suggested March 31 as the deadline be extended due to delays in implementing the new law, making it hard for many taxpayers to file.

March 28. Joseph Ulmer, 40, jumped 100 feet from the high level bridge toward the Cuyahoga river. Police rescued him from the edge. doctors at Fairview Park hospital said he would not recover. Two pedestrians saw him climb the railing and he jumped before they reached him. Ulmer, a former insurance man and father of two, had been unemployed for two months.
Judge Carl V. Weygandt of the Cleveland Court of Appeals will address Elyria Rotary Club at the Hotel Newell at noon tomorrow. He will speak on Washington's Challenge.

Leslie Mortimer Shaw, longtime Republican figure and former Governor of Vermont, died in Washington at the Wardman Park Hotel after five weeks of pneumonia. Born November 2, 1848 in Morristown, Vermont, he served as Secretary of the Treasury from 1903 to 1907 under President Roosevelt after earlier terms as governor and various financial leadership roles. He was with his wife and daughter at his death. Shaw had earlier pursued a presidential bid and held posts at Carnegie Trust and First Mortgage & Trust Company.
