Rotarians To Hear Radium Expert
Elyria Rotarians will hear Dr. Luther Gable share the radium story at the Elks Restaurant noon Tuesday. As a pioneer chemist he discusses radium uses from medical to industrial and will preview the Great Lakes Exposition in Cleveland this summer. Prompt action prevents serious blaze at Elyria plant
A fire at the Elyria Manufacturing Company plant on 145 Northrup Street was halted before spreading. Magnesium ignition from a machine sparked the blaze discovered by a nearby worker. firemen, staying on site, allowed it to burn out due to the burning chemical and not reaching the building. No damage to the structure, but one machine was damaged. Fire Chief W N Bates said detection prevented a larger disaster. The alarm rang at 11 33 am and units Hose Company No 1 and Engine Company No 2 returned after 35 minutes.

Pension Office Moves to Larger Quarters at Masonic Temple

County commissioners moved to secure Lorain County s share of a 5 million stopgap relief fund after the state legislature approved relief aid through April 15. A Columbus report indicated Lorain’s monthly share would be 5 000 but a letter from the Ohio Relief Commission said no allocation will be made since county finances are adequate.
