The ticket was purchased Saturday and expires in 174 days.
A 5 year old boy, Cameron Copeland, was struck by a 1998 Dodge Caravan driven by Chandra Lee on Middle Avenue near South Park Apartments. The child sustained a broken leg and was airlifted to Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland in stable condition. Lee, who cried at the scene, said the boy darted into the street and police noted the crowd shouted threats toward her. Lee stated she was driving about 25 mph and had slowed for an earlier street crossing.
Governor Bob Taft said Ford Motor Co will not likely resume production at the Lorain Assembly Plant soon. After meeting Ford executives in Dearborn during winter, Taft cited little prospect of restoring 1500 jobs, as Lorain faces years of loss since 1997 plant cuts and job transfers. The state development department will keep marketing the site to Ford despite the setback.
The United Way of Greater Lorain County raised more than 3.6 million, within 50 000 of its goal. George Worden was elected president of the board at the annual meeting held at DeLuca's Place in the Park, with about 260 supporters present. Worden, EVP of Lorain County Community College Foundation, succeeds Frank Sulen as board president.
