Ming jar fetches record $260000 at New York auction
In the 1940s Douglas Oliver bought a Ming porcelain jar for 150 dollars after a dealer advised him. The jar with five colorful fish sold for 260000 dollars at Sotheby Parke Bernet, a record for Chinese art in America, to Eskenazi of London. Oliver, now retired in Philadelphia, hoped it would stay in America and urges buyers to invest in quality pieces.
