Bertrand Larramendy died September 26 1969 at 83 leaving his entire estate to the United States government. He emigrated from France and for decades lived in California as a handyman and investor. His attorney noted the unusual bequest cited gratitude for living in this country. He left small sums to scattered relatives.

Plane crashes into barn injuring pilot in Ohio
A 41 year old Cleveland man Raymond A Stephens was injured when his single engine plane crashed upside down into a barn in Brownhelm Township near Darrow and West River roads. He was hospitalized in critical condition with skull and limb fractures. The crash occurred after a takeoff from Burke Lakefront Airport bound for Tawas City Michigan. Local union official Stephens was alone in the Movers 200A plane valued around 30000 dollars. The barn belonging to William C Knott was declared a total loss. Linda Knott and neighbor John Tanser aided Stephens from the wreckage. No fire and no other injuries were reported.
