Jalous Lover Also Ends Own Life in Berlin and Cleveland
Alice Fitzner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edw. Fitzner of Cleveland Ohio, was shot dead in Berlin by her jealous fiancé who then killed himself. The event followed a contentious engagement with John Goodrich a medical student from Monrose New Hampshire. The couple had been returning from a restaurant in a taxi when Goodrich opened fire over Miss Fitzner’s alleged infatuation with a Russian dancer. The tragedy prompted plans to bring Fitzner’s body back to Cleves for burial and left sorrowful families in Cleveland and Detroit where she was known in theatrical circles.
