Court House Court Rules Taxes On Forfeited Lands Valid
Judge D A Cook ruled that 1944 taxes on forfeited lands sold by the county auditor are valid charges up to the 1944 tax collection close. Wilbur W. Smith, purchaser of several parcels, contended taxes were unenforceable under law that allegedly eliminated all taxes. The court found the 1644 liens valid and arrears nil, upholding the assessments. Markets Report Reveals Odd Mix Of Prices And Spurious Data
An eclectic market listing shows grain and produce prices alongside jumbled OCR text. Amid flour, celery, mushrooms, and potatoes, the piece oddly inserts a safety statistic about a U S accident rate, noting a young girl as the safest person in the United States and misplacing Connecticut among states, suggesting parsing or transcription errors.
