An elderly couple harboring dozens of malnourished cats in two West 20th Street houses faced hospital care as the city planned to raze the dwellings. Eugene Hennes, 78, was in critical condition with pneumonia at Lorain Community Hospital, while Sally Hennes, 70, was in fair condition at St Joseph's Hospital. Dozens of cats were found and euthanized by Animal Protective League volunteers after authorities deemed the homes unfit for habitation.
Despite a broad letter campaign by community leaders and unions, Ford idled about 500 Lorain Assembly Plant workers. Exxon President Lawrence Rawl admits Migratory Bird Treaty Act violation. Exxon Shipping President Augustus Elmer admits three misdemeanor counts under Refuse and Clean Water acts. Sentencing set for April 24 with public comment period to April 11.
Biskind Development Co. transfers all interest in Great Northern Mall to Hexalon Real Estate Inc. Atlanta based partner. Jerome L. Gould notes the move is normal and the company will remain active in the area. The Biskind family has developed North Olmsted for four decades led by Saul Biskind.
