Fed aid to Ohio S and Ls signals limited impact on money supply

Checks reissued as on hold ODGF savings banks reopen

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland says checks drawn on 70 ODGF thrifts will be returned as cannot be presented until reopening allows processing. Banks will decide whether to return or hold items, with store owners likely holding customer checks until Fed handling resumes. Smaller banks may reopen soon, limiting outstanding checks.

Rocky River to offer new athletic programs

The Rocky River Recreation Department and School Board announce new athletic programs. A $10 picnic equipment package includes badminton, softball, bats, balls, and volleyball nets for youngsters. Girls basketball for grades nine to 12 runs Mondays and Wednesdays. Coed softball for high schoolers offered this summer. Wrestling camp at Rocky River High June 17 to 23 led by Dale Hlabin. High school pool hours for junior high Fridays 8:30 to 10 pm and high school Thursdays 8:30 to 10 pm in summer.

Clevelander arraigned in skate rink rape case

A Cleveland man, Mark Bass, 18, was arraigned in Berea Municipal Court on a charge of raping a 15-year-old girl on March 8 in a parking lot behind Skateland Boller Rink. His case was bound over to the Cuyahoga County Grand Jury. he denies the accusation.

Principal to resign at Rocky River Junior High

Daryl L. Unnasch, principal of Rocky River Junior High School, will resign at the end of the 1985 school year for personal reasons. The school board will search for a replacement while also reappointing Phil Isaacs as special services administrator through 1988. The board accepted a $1,000 gift from Jess Beil of Bonne Bell Co to fund the Bell Invitational Track Meet on April 20.

Berea honors Berneice Smith with Grindstone Award

Berneice K. Smith received the 1984 Grindstone Award at the Berea Chamber of Commerce dinner. Her sons Ed and Will accepted on her behalf since she was in Dublin, Ireland with a theater group. The award honors civic spirit and community impact in Berea.

Bay Village to tighten rules on noisy West End Landscapers

Bay Village officials moved to send West End Landscapers Supply Co.'s conditional use permit to Planning Director John Swanson for study to curb dust and noise near the Bay Westlake line. The council noted prior court orders and city code violations as bases to regulate the operation and enforce controls.

Coyne Plans Appeal Over Brook Park Clerk Ruling

Brook Park Mayor Thomas Coyne said he will appeal a federal ruling that reinstated Sandra Stuart, a former city tax clerk, and awarded her 123000 in damages including 30000 compensatory, 50000 punitive, and 43000 back pay. The judge found Coyne and tax commissioner Henry Zdrojewski conspired to fire her for political reasons.
