Labor Cost Rise Not Enough To Kill Project

County engineer Donald Patterson says proposed labor cost increases could raise the road improvement bill at Deiss Hill on North Ridge road Pleasant View Sanitarium by 25 percent, adding about 40000 to reach 200000. He cites Lorain contractor as potential bidder and a county share up to 80000. Union leaders Higgins and Study dispute the impact saying rate hikes cannot exceed 10 percent and would add at most 2900 to the county cost, not enough to cancel the project.
