Thome Adjusts to First Base and DH Role with Indians
Jim Thome, a three time All Star, has moved to first base and occasionally DH as the Indians shift Richie Sexson into the lineup. He notes learning the new position, accepting more time at first with Sexson gone, and still delivering power with 37 home runs and 106 RBI despite a .269 average. Thome acknowledges high strikeouts but stays focused on avoiding letting at bats affect later ones, and discusses adapting to a higher strike zone introduced for the season.
