School board approves third round of cuts amid looming deficits

The board, led by Frank Vacha, approves another round of budget cuts as cash reserves dwindle to one to three days. Pay to participate fees rise to 35 for preK, 75 for middle school, and 60 for elementary per student with programs at risk if participation targets aren’t met. Bus routes are shortened and class sizes may grow to 28 to 30. Speculation includes a November operating levy and potential job restorations depending on staff retirements.
