Credit deals offer better terms for farm cooperatives
The new Credit Administration plan improves on the 13 old Federal Farm Board by extending loan possibilities. Banks or Cooperatives may lend to farm sales organizations, financing facilities and purchases. Eligible organizations must meet Capper-Volstead Act criteria, operate for producers’ mutual benefit, pay patronage dividends, limit outsider business, and follow one-man-one vote.

Efficient feeding for Holstein cows using balanced grain mix
Dairying expert A. E. Perkins at Ohio Agricultural Experiment Station warns that feeding cows a liberal grain mix with clover hay and silage is often unprofitable. A balanced, lower-cost grain blend of corn 54 pounds, bran 30, linseed oilmeal 100 pounds, and related feeds can meet nutrients and reduce costs, while moderate grain feeding remains desirable for production.

SAM PLUMER notes farmers generally favor the federal corn hog program expecting about 16 million dollars extra for Ohio. Potatoes expand in the south with a 25 percent rise in acreage despite seed prices up. Farmers move toward pedigreed chicks, lime and seeding with fine grain to improve legume stands. New strawberry varieties Dorsett and Fairfax show promise for yield and flavor. Nitrogen fertilizer applied to lime meadows boosts yield and hay protein. Carding at bloom enhances palatability and protein in hay.
