Save the south side school in Elyria school plan
Elyria school board weighs replacing the south side K 4 campus with three larger K 8 schools amid rising costs. The plan to build five facilities, funded by a 60 million bond approved in 2016, faces delays as costs surge and storm shelter requirements and steel tariffs push total project price beyond 135 million. Brubaker says options include shrinking other sites or moving the south side project, but he emphasizes preserving a local school and voters’ promises while seeking state funds or reallocating stadium money.

Single Mothers and Poverty Debate Cited by Times Essay
In response to a New York Times piece arguing single mothers are not the main poverty cause, the author uses Census Bureau data to challenge that view. He notes 12.7 percent of the poor live in single-parent homes and warns that births outside wedlock and reduced resources harm outcomes for children. Robert Samuelson cautions against neutralizing poverty links to family structure.
