John Turner MacGregor-Morris, 86, co inventor of a submarine detector credited with helping sink numerous German U boats in World War I, died in London after an operation on Wednesday.

Two Alarms Smoke Fire Terrains City Auto Grass Blazes
Two alarms three minutes apart were turned in yesterday. A grass fire behind 158 Sheriff St. spread over about 300 square feet and was quickly extinguished by Co. 3 firefighters using a broom and water pump. A 1958 Chrysler owned by Anthony Hester burned in the rear seat and arm supports in his Lake Ave garage after a passerby reported smoke. firemen from Co. 1 removed the rear seat and doused the blaze attributed to a cigarette.
